A start with Mats Etc.
Felix and Aquino launch their business with rental mats and one truck. Towel and linen accounts become the next step.
Our story · Las Vegas, since 1991
Before there was Southwest Linen, there was a friendship, a single truck, and the determination to build something of their own.
Founded here.
Local roots. Shared ambition.
Joe Felix and Anthony Aquino both grew up in Las Vegas. Their paths first crossed in youth baseball, and they became teammates at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
In 1991, they started Mats Etc. with one truck and a Sears steam cleaner. They began with rental mats, learning the business firsthand and putting their own resources into its growth.
Towel accounts followed. Then came more linen work for the city’s hotels and restaurants. As the business grew beyond mats, it took a new name: Southwest Linen.

Growing with Las Vegas
Las Vegas hospitality shaped Southwest Linen from the beginning. Hotels and restaurants needed dependable linen service that could keep up with their daily demands.
As the business grew, the founders invested in automated washing, linen tracking, and overhead handling systems—learning from fellow operators and working closely with equipment suppliers along the way.
